CoolSculpting is a branded, FDA-approved form of fat reduction called cryolipolysis.
CoolSculpting and other forms of cryolipolysis use freezing temperatures to break down fat cells. Cold does not damage other cells in the way it does fat cells, and so there should be no damage to the skin or underlying tissue.
Coolsculpting is FDA approved for fat reduction in the following areas:
Arms, Abdomen, Flanks, Inner and Outer Thighs, back fat, bra fat, upper and inner knee areas, under the chin, these areas require a different number of cycles. Cycles in Coolsculpting are considered placements of the handpiece, you need multiple cycles within one session and some patients could need multiple sessions to get their intended results.
These are general cycle recommendations some patients need more or less:
Arms- 2 cycles (per session)
Abdomen - 2-8 cycles (per session)
Flanks- 2-4 cycles (per session)
Bra fat- 2-4 cycles (per session)
Back Fat- 2-4 cycles per session)
Inner thighs- 2-4 cycles (per session)
Outer Thighs 2-4 cycles (per session)
Upper or Inner Knees - 2-4 cycles (per session)
The number of cycles can vary and multiple sessions with multiple cycles per session can be needed.
